Newsletter February 2006

A Note from the Branch President

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
The NALC has recently become aware of a salary and benefit survey that is being sent to selected members. This survey will arrive at your residence and will ask specific questions concerning our benefit package. In addition, there will be specific questions asking if you are satisfied with your current salary structure. The NALC’s position on this survey is clear, TRASH IT! With upcoming contact negotiations the Postal Service would certainty like to get their hands on closed ended questions like these. In contrast, the NALC has not put a prohibition on the Voice of the Employee Survey (VOE). This survey is handed out to members on the workroom floor and is to be completed on the clock. It should reflect how the member feels about the Postal Service as a whole and more importantly how you feel about your management team and work environment. Furthermore, this survey is entirely optional and is used as an internal measuring device. If at any point the NALC feels that this survey will be used against us, we will immediately notify all members.
Steve Lipski

We are currently 97.4% organized. That’s pretty good, but we can do better. If you are friends with any of the non-members listed above, try to explain to them the importance of belonging to the Union. This is a contract year; remind them that the Postal Service does not voluntarily give us raises or COLAs, or any of the other benefits that the NALC negotiates for all letter carriers. Everything we get as a result of a new contract is due to the hard work of the National Union with the support of all the membership.

Shop Steward E-mail Addresses Needed

There are times during the month in between meetings when it is necessary for President Lipski or another Branch Officer needs to get information out to all of our Stewards. The quickest way to accomplish this is for him to attach the information to an e-mail and send it out to all of the Stewards at once. For this reason, we are asking all of our Officers and Stewards to make sure the Branch has a good e-mail address for you. To ensure that we have your address, please send an e-mail from your address to info@nalcbranch908.com. This will only be used for official Branch communications.

Happy Valentines Day a
